2013-2014

In the first two years after graduating from art school, I worked office jobs while maintaining my painting practice in my spare time. I also had the opportunity to travel across Europe and beyond with my work, which led me to initiate a small project titled The Landscape of Friends. I suppose at that time I was young, outwardly social, yet inwardly restless and lonely.

The portraits from this series were based on people I encountered through work, study, or personal connections. Some were fleeting acquaintances I met only a few times and never saw again; others were companions with whom I spent several days a week—talking, drinking, and partying together.
