2017

In 2017, I rented a small studio in New York City’s West Village, where I created this body of work. I was deeply mesmerized by the crisp winter light and the people on the streets—especially the play of shadows across their faces. The city’s fast-paced rhythm also inspired me to inscribe text onto my works, imagining fictional dialogues between my subjects.

I never grew up with comic books, yet in hindsight, I realize that the streets, the people, the chaos, and the many hidden narratives of the city sparked a creative response in me that felt more comic than philosophical.
